Intern and Graduate - Water, Environment and Digital Solutions
Launch your career where water, environment and technology meet.
If you’re passionate about working on real-world challenges that affect communities, places and the environment, we’d like to hear from you.
At Zealandia Consulting, interns and graduates do meaningful work from day one. You could work on helping communities prepare for flooding, modelling stormwater systems, assessing stream health, analysing spatial data, or developing digital and artificial intelligence tools that support better decisions.

About Zealandia Consulting
We are a collaborative consulting team made up of engineers, environmental specialists, digital innovators and practical problem-solvers who care about leaving the world better than we found it. Our work helps councils, iwi, community groups and infrastructure providers across New Zealand to combat environmental challenges.

With our office located right next to Takapuna Beach, solving complex environmental problems is occasionally balanced with a visit to the local cafes or a stroll along the coastline. We find that some of our best ideas happen when we get out from behind our desks.

What You’ll Be Working On
Your role will be shaped around your interests, strengths and development goals. Depending on the projects underway, you could work with our team to:
-
Model flooding and understand risks to people, properties and infrastructure
-
Turn complex spatial and environmental data into practical insights
-
Develop apps, automation and artificial intelligence tools
-
Support communities preparing for future flood events
-
Use cameras, sensors and satellite imagery for environmental monitoring
-
Take part in fieldwork involving streams, ecology and water quality

Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for current students or recent graduates who are curious, proactive and keen to learn. Relevant backgrounds may include civil or environmental engineering, water resources, environmental science, GIS, geography, ecology, planning, data science or software engineering. Above all else, we are looking for someone who is willing to take initiative and think outside the box.
The role is based in Auckland, and may be structured as a summer internship, part-time placement or fixed-term graduate role, with flexibility around study commitments. Some fieldwork and site visits may be included.
